DAVOS-G8 should become G13 as soon as possible-OECD's Gurria

DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan 25 (Reuters) - The head of the OECD urged the Group of Eight major economies on Friday to include emerging countries such as India and China as soon as possible to deal with economic problems.
Speaking to a panel session in the World Economic Forum, Angel Gurria cast a doubt on the theory that emerging markets can grow rapidly at a time the U.S. and developed economies slowed down.
"This decoupling story has been taken too far. If there are slowdowns in the OECD countries there will be a greater slowdown in the rest of the world. Period," Gurria said.
"We are all affected. Therefore we should all contribute to the solution and we should have much better coordination. G8 should become G13 as soon as we can and ... they should all work together. The G8 cannot solve any problems without five and the five cannot solve problems without the eight, so why wait?"
Gurria referred to India and China as part of the five countries.
