Official UVic Web sites

Only Web sites created and maintained by units that have been given official status by the University of Victoria Board of Governors are considered to be official UVic Web sites. This includes Web sites of services provided by those units, or official University publications published by UVic units.

Who owns this site?

UVic Web sites are maintained by the individual departments and units, who have exclusive control over the content on their sites. The unit that created the Web site has the sole responsibility for the accuracy of its contents and opinions expressed in the site.

Information collected automatically

The University of Victoria logs http requests to our server. These logs capture computer information and navigation data.

Some of the information collected does not identify who you are. While we make no attempt to link the information captured to the identity of individuals, our logs do identify the following:

Transactions Where Information Enters a System of Records

Where personal information is provided that enters a system of records, it is collected in compliance with the British Columbia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. The University of Victoria collects, creates and maintains information for the purposes of admission, registration and other activities directly related to its education programs.

The University of Victoria's Directory of Records, the University's records classification system, identifies those University records series that contain personal information. The Directory of Records is available as a web-based searchable database at the University Archives website. Paper copies are also available from the University Archives at archives at uvic dot ca or (250) 472-4480.
